Paint Protection and how it can keep your 4wd looking brand new!

We had the opportunity to talk to Craig from Turners Paint Correction & Detailing about paint protection and how it can benefit your 4wd.

How can you protect my vehicle's paint from damage caused by off-road driving and harsh weather conditions?

Depends on what type of off-roading you partake in. If your just weekend player I highly suggest paying for a high-quality ceramic paint protection, if your say doing winch truck or Finke racing we would highly suggest PPF WRAP to protect it from tree/sticks scrapes and chips, ceramic paint protection is a sacrificial barrier to catch Light scratches before they get to your clear coat.

Can you walk me through your paint correction process, and how it differs from traditional detailing?

Paint correction in layman terms is a glorified cut and polish, we can do cut and polish on a sedan in 2.5 hours or we can spend anywhere from 10-80 hours performing a paint correction where we work with the paint and not just cut it hard than polish it, it's much safer performing a paint correction you take less clear coat and quadruple the results even though you spending up to anywhere from 10-80 hours on paint work pending on the results the customer wants to achieve.

How can your paint correction services improve the performance and longevity of my vehicle's paint, especially given the harsh conditions that it might be exposed to on off-road adventures? Paint correction keeps it looking good, but it is the paint protection (ceramic) that will keep it protected in harsh environments/weather.

What are some common paint issues that off-road and adventure vehicles face, and how do your services address these problems?

All off-road driving is guaranteed to end in scratches unfortunately, but with a ceramic it has a very high chance of catching these before they get to your clear coat, if the scratches aren't too deep, we can sand them out in a paint correction process.

Can you provide any recommendations for the best ways to care for my vehicle's paint after receiving a paint correction service, particularly in the context of off-road or adventure driving?

We highly suggest regular maintenance of your paint work and have it sealed with a good quality wax or ceramic spray sealant, this will minimise the scratches when washing the vehicle afterwards and always use a pH neutral soap no carwashes with brooms as they have acids in their soaps, a snow cannon with wash Bucket and a grit guard is high recommended with a 2nd bucket for wheels and tyres.

How do you ensure the safety and quality of your paint correction services, especially when dealing with high value 4WD or adventure vehicles?

Before we start a paint correction we go around the car with a paint depth gauge that reads the thickness of your primer paint and clear coat, most new cars these days are averaging 1mm-1.5mm of primer paint and clear coat which is basically nothing and scratches really easy, with this paint depth gauge we can safely navigate around the car with hurting the 0.5mm of clear this is where a paint correction is safer than a cut and polish We have 15years+ experience working with paint

Are there any particular brands or types of paint protection products that you recommend for off-road and adventure vehicles?

Unfortunately if you want to protect your ride it’s a pay to play experience, there are many different types of ceramic paint protections on the market but the cheaper ones under $1000 are basically polymer ceramics which aren't even worth putting on your off-road vehicle or daily car, we do not recommend dealership ceramic either as they don’t get applied properly and are very cheap and nasty we have waxes that protect better than a dealership ceramic, we have tried and tested a massive range of products over the years and our top 3 picks would  be as followed

1. PPF (for the extreme off-roader/racer)

2 System X ceramic MAX (for touring/off-roading)

3. Chassis shield (underbody hydrophobic coating for easy cleaning)

How can I tell if my vehicle needs a paint correction service, and what are some of the signs that paint damage is occurring?

Dull faded, water spotting, bad swirls, cloudy, feels rough to touch.

What sets your paint correction services apart from other providers, particularly for off-road and adventure vehicles?

High quality workmanship, no fillers in our products that hide scratches like other detailers, quality over quantity every time.

What things would you suggest I do to my vehicle to help maintain my paint at home?

Wash bucket with grit guard, snow cannon with PH neutral soap, keep your paint work sealed with a good quality wax or sio2 ceramic spray sealant. If an issue starts to occur see someone straight away because it will be much cheaper to have it professionally fixed before it's past its point of no return and a respray will be on the cards.
